This film was created in a fairly organic process. What started as a holiday down to the south coast of Devon quickly turned into myself heading out day two of the holiday into the English Channel to document the fishing crisis. This film was shot, produced, directed and edited by myself when I was 16 years old. After speaking to a family member who lived in the little fishing village of Brixham in Devon, they explained to me the hardships the local fishermen are going through with having such a small fishing quota, often having to put dead fish back into the sea. This definitely sparked something within me and by the following day I'd organised myself to go out and document the issue at 4am, a whole day on the ocean.
The film progressed whilst I was out there and quickly developed into being a short documentary something of which stunted my desire to pursue film-making. Once I spent the next few weeks piecing together the story and crafting a film I was incredibly proud of.
